Flooding Hearts With HOPE

Welcome to Surge

“And this hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured His love for us into our hearts by the Holy Spirit whom He has given us.”  - Romans 5:5

What is Resurgence?

A resurgence is an increase after a time of lack.  It’s a revival.  A “coming back.”  And a surge?  Well, when we think of the word “surge,” we often picture a huge wave.  Something sudden and powerful, with great momentum and potential.  Something that moves and changes, and brings others along for the ride.  That is the kind of youth program we strive to build here.  One that does not let difficulties wreck us, nor allows the idea of “new” to hold us back.  We want to be a group that not only embraces what’s to come, but one that runs toward it with joy and expectation of all our God is going to do here in this place.

What are we about?

Resurgent Youth Ministry is about creating an environment for powerful forward motion toward deeper faith in and relationship with Jesus Christ.  How?  By flooding hearts with HOPE.

Youth Ministry Health Forms

One of the goals of our youth ministry here at Good Shepherd is to create a clean, safe environment for our tweens, teens, and young adults which allows all who enter to feel seen, heard, and loved. In order to accomplish this goal, we now have an official list of Youth Group Rules, and we are requiring health forms to be filled out each year. These forms also act as a permission slip for most events. If a specific form is needed for an event, it will be sent out to you in advance.

All kids participating in any youth activities or events (either on Good Shepherd’s campus, or elsewhere) are required to have a complete, up-to-date Health Form on file before participating in said events. This is a necessary safety measure which allows our youth leadership team to have what they need to take good care of your child in the event of an emergency.

*NOTE: All pages of the Youth Ministry Health Form must be filled out completely, and you must have a clear copy of your insurance card attached. These forms are valid for one year, but in the event that any of your information changes (address, phone number, insurance info, etc…) within the current year, it is your responsibility to inform the DCE of said changes and to fill out a new health form in a timely manner. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Gathering Recap

A year of crazy fundraising and prayer has officially paid off. We had an absolutely amazing time at the 2022 LCMS National Youth Gathering in Houston, TX back in July. Between worshipping and communing with 20,000 other Lutherans at the Mass Events, to soaking in new knowledge and perspective during the daily sessions, to food adventures and fire alarms, to everything in between — God was all over it, and it shows. #Godisgood #Allthetime #Inallthings

Wanna see for yourself? Check out our recap video for a taste of what we experienced at The 2022 National Youth Gathering!

“I’m a firm believer that a joyful heart really is the best medicine (Proverbs 17:22). Joy is an emotion – but it’s one you can choose. And, that’s a choice you can only make if you know the One from Whom our joy comes.”

Choose joy.

Brian Hunter
High School

“I grew up in this youth group and I love the way it helped me grow in my faith. I try to be the person I needed when I was that age.”
Brian has been helping out with the youth group since 2013. In that time, the kids have come to know him for his dad humor, and for always having their backs.

Thea Ebert
Middle School

“I have been in the midst of Lutheran youth all my life.  My parents were youth leaders, and I also served youth once I became a young adult.  Now I’m at it again!  Jr. High has a special place in my heart.”

Michael Webb
High School

“I help with the youth group here at church because I didn’t really have youth group of my own growing up, and I wish I did. Also, I just genuinely enjoy the kids and getting to spend time with them. I want to be a positive influence in their lives and let them know they always have someone they can turn to.”
