Looking for a women’s group and opportunities to serve? The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is the official women’s auxiliary of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. The LWML at Good Shepherd meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 10:00AM in the church library with snacks and refreshments provided by a member each month.
Both men and women are welcome to attend! LWML is mission-focused and hosts a speaker from the community each month and discusses outreach opportunities.
This is a great way to get involved in local ministry. Currently, the LWML has an ongoing mission to provide a monthly meal at Welcome Home of Chattanooga (www.welcomehomeofchattanooga.org), a hospice for the terminally ill who have nowhere to go. The group also holds activities such as packing care bags for the Bridge City Community Church (www.bridgecitycommunity.com) children’s camp, a church supported through Good Shepherd’s missions. Money is also collected at meetings for missions as well as contributions to mite boxes (more info: www.lwml.org/mites) – Mark 12:41-43. Mite box contributions amount to millions of dollars that fund district and national mission grants and implement the LWML program.
