Since 2010, Good Shepherd has gifted 400 quilts to both church members and non members. Quilts are intended for those with serious medical or other issues. Special quilts for children are also available.
The group meets the second Saturday of each month at the Brownlee’s home starting at 10:00 am. Lunch is provided, and the group continues to have fun making the quilts until around 2 to 3pm. All can come and go as their time permits. No experience is needed. Jobs available are: Cutting, Pining, Piecing, Ironing, Hand sewing, Machine sewing, Machine Quilting. In all each unique quilt takes about 20 hours to complete. If anyone has machine quilting skills but cannot attended the workdays, they can do the quilting in their home at their convenience.
Any member of Good Shepherd can request a quilt for a family or friend, member or non member. So that duplicates are not given, we do keep information on all quilts gifted. Information needed is: name of person giving the quilt, name of recipient, member or non member, city they live in, reason quilt is given.
