Pastor, Rev. H. Christopher Sheets
For close to 30 years, Pastor Sheets has been humbly sharing the love of Christ through proclaiming His word! Pastor Sheets began serving as our pastor on December 1, 2013. He was born in 1959 in Akron, Ohio where he grew up with his family. He attended the University of Akron and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. It was at the University of Akron that he met his wife, Brenda, and they were married in 1981. In 1983, Chris and Brenda moved to St. Louis, where he attended Concordia Seminary. He served as a vicar in inner-city Chicago for one year.
Following his graduation from seminary in 1987, Pastor Sheets served three congregations prior to coming to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He served at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Searcy, Arkansas until 1992. From there, he went to Carlinville, Illinois to Zion Lutheran Church where he served until 2003. He was then called to serve as the senior pastor of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church and School until 2013. Pastor Sheets was called to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in November 2013, where he now serves as pastor as well as the co-superintendent of Belvoir Christian Academy.
Pastor and Brenda have three children: Sarah, Rebekah, and Christopher.
Associate Pastor; Pastor Ed Rosser
Pastor Rosser was born in Buffalo, New York, over some seventy years ago and attended Martin Luther School there. He was quite diligent and earned a BS, MS, and a Ph.D. in Psychology. He was formerly an Adjunct Professor at Covenant College. He went back to school and earned his attorney’s license in Alabama. But he did not stop there. He later attended Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, where he graduated and became an ordained minister.
He formerly served as pastor of Solid Rock Lutheran Church in Argo, Alabama, for over 15 years. We at Good Shepherd are fortunate that Pastor Ed began serving at Grace Place, a Saturday evening outreach ministry of GSLC in 2017. Pastor Rosser is married to Barbara, and in October of 2020, they will celebrate their fifty-second wedding anniversary. Barbara is a retiree of General Motors Corporation and loves being the caretaker of some of her family members.
Each week Pastor Rosser writes two poems, one for the worship service and the other for something we call the Grace Place Minute. He has closed his sermons with a poem for many years. Even though he has no formal training writing poetry we love to hear about his insights every week.
